Flex Alert Declared for Southern California

 

Southern California Edison (SCE) has declared “Flex Alert Days” for Thursday and Friday due to the current heat wave and power demand.  It’s important that Southern California power consumers conserve energy and reduce the demand, particularly between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on August 30th and 31st.  

 

SCE anticipates having sufficient resources to meet the forecasted demand this week. However, conservation can provide the necessary reserves should an unexpected emergency such as a mechanical failure or a wildfire.  

 

Tips to Conserve Energy at Work

 

Employees can help conserve energy and reduce demand by the actions listed below. Every bit helps! 

  • Turn off office and conference room lighting when not in use and/or when not necessary.
  • Close window blinds in rooms with windows facing direct sunlight.
  • Turn off printers, copiers, and fax machines when not in use.
  • Avoid using rear building trash compactors between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.

 

Additionally, Facilities will continue to adjust temperature controls to achieve optimal balance between conservation and comfort
