The deal gives Paetec access to McLeod's 20-state network of fiber-optic lines, allowing the company to offer high-speed Internet access to its corporate customers. The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2008. InformationWeek (9/17) Apple picks O2 as U.K. iPhone carrier Telefonica's O2 U.K. has won the coveted deal to be the carrier offering Apple's iPhone in Britain. The Washington Post/Reuters (9/18) , MarketWatch (9/18) Hutchison-Essar takes Vodafone name Hutchison-Essar, the fourth-largest mobile provider in India, gets rebranded this week, picking up the name of its majority stakeholder, Vodafone. The rebranding will be accompanied by a major advertising campaign, including nearly all ads airing on Star TV on Thursday. Vodafone acquired 67% of Hutchison-Essar earlier this year.
