Bulgarian WiMAX network passes 30% of country
Max Telecom is covering 30% of the Bulgarian population with its WiMAX network, the company said, adding that it expects to reach 90% penetration by the end of 2008. More Americans looking outside the box for media consumption
A growing percentage of Americans are migrating online and to their cell phones to view TV shows and listen to music, according to a new survey by Deloitte & Touche. The survey of more than 2,000 Americans shows that 38% now watch TV online and that 36% are using their mobile phones as entertainment platforms. Switch to cell phones costs Pa. counties 911 fees
County officials across Pennsylvania complain that they are losing telephone-surcharge fees used to subsidize 911 emergency operations because an increasing number of people have cut their land-line service in favor of using only cell phones. Book claims proof Bell did not invent telephone
According to a new book by veteran journalist and author Seth Shulman due out next month, Alexander Graham Bell stole ideas for the telephone from patent documents that had actually been filed by a rival, Elisha Gray. In "The Telephone Gambit: Chasing Alexander Graham Bell's Secret," Shulman argues that Bell's lab notebook proves that Gray actually invented the voice transmitter that patent examiners eventually credited to Bell. Chinese IPTV subs fall short of 1.3 million predicted
The number of subscribers to IPTV services in China will fall short of end-of-year expectations by almost 500,000, according to the research and consulting company iSuppli. Bell Canada wins telemarketing-oversight bid
Bell Canada has won the contract to operate the National Do Not Call List designed to protect people from in-home telemarketing solicitations.
