    According to a new book by veteran journalist and author Seth Shulman due out next month, Alexander Graham Bell stole ideas for the telephone from patent documents that had actually been filed by a rival, Elisha Gray. In "The Telephone Gambit: Chasing Alexander Graham Bell's Secret," Shulman argues that Bell's lab notebook proves that Gray actually invented the voice transmitter that patent examiners eventually credited to Bell.
