  • Looking back at 2007
Over the course of 2007, I have been pleased to deliver the industry news that matters to your business. Part I of this USTelecom dailyLead special year-end report rounds up the most important trends, stories and events of the past year. Part II, which will hit your inbox Thursday, will provide a glimpse into what's in store for 2008.

Video played a major part in shaping 2007 for the industry, with many telecom companies making serious inroads into the genre, while others began investigating the possible benefits of such a rollout. Companies explored ways to leverage their broadband, mobile and global IP networks to deliver rich, and often interactive, media experiences to consumers. On Capitol Hill, Congress -- in the eleventh hour -- agreed to extend the moratorium on taxes on Internet access for another seven years.

This year's conferences took USTelecom members to Chicago for NXTcomm; San Jose, Calif., for the Executive Business Forum; and Washington for the tax and engineering summits. These highly successful forums allowed you to network with your peers and keep your finger on the pulse of industry developments and issues.

And now, here's the top stories from 2007.
