    Vector's wide-scale expansion plan for its fiber-optic network is expected to bring faster broadband service to Vodafone customers in New Zealand. "The extension to our [fiber] network in Auckland means we will further the development of true broadband, expand our customer reach and enable greater competition in the unbundled local loop environment," Vector CEO Simon Mackenzie said.   • Profit up, CenturyTel gains 25K broadband subs
    Rural telecom provider CenturyTel posted a 45% increase in net income from a year earlier as its broadband data base grew by 25,000 customers in the fourth quarter to reach 550,000, the Monroe, La., company reported.
