  • Verizon details open-network road map: Verizon Wireless offered the long-awaited details Wednesday on how its new open policy toward unaffiliated devices and content would work.   • Groups, lawmakers demand auction probe on 9/11 spectrum
    One of the core findings of The 9/11 Commission was the need for a dedicated piece of public radio spectrum for public service agencies, a wish that the FCC expected would be met by the recent wireless-spectrum auction that elicited more than $19 billion in bids. But now a broad array of consumer groups, lawmakers and members of the 9/11 Commission are calling for an investigation after the spectrum dedicated to emergency-response use failed to draw enough interest to allocate the frequencies.
