A federal jury has set $367.4 million as the damages Microsoft must pay telecom-equipment maker Alcatel-Lucent after finding the software giant had violated a pair of Alcatel patents. According to Microsoft, Alcatel had sought $1.5 billion based on four alleged violations, and while the jury found Microsoft liable for the company's user-interface software, it ruled the Microsoft did not infringe on Alcatel's patents for its video-decoding technology. A&E's international division will launch a History HD video-on-demand service in Korea under a partnership with Korea Telecom, the company's first such Asian offering, after the formation of similar services in the U.S., U.K., Scandinavia and central Europe, the network said.
