  • Leap Wireless asks for stipulations to Verizon Wireless-Alltel deal
    Verizon Wireless' $28.1 billion bid to acquire Alltel will stifle competition and hamstring the roaming agreements of other cell phone carriers, according to a petition filed with the FCC by Leap Wireless. Leap, which currently has roaming agreements with both companies, said the regulatory agency should predicate approval of the acquisition on whether the firms agree to develop a nationwide roaming agreement that will not leave mobile-phone users without a signal.
